Small business owners need your support. These are the makers and doers who live in our neighborhood. Our kids go to school together. And there’s a good chance that they’ve had an exceptionally hard year.

Black-owned businesses can especially use your support. At one point during the COVID-19 pandemic, Black-owned businesses were twice as likely to have gone out of business as their white counterparts. While they are slowly building back up, there’s a long road ahead.

So this Black Friday, consider finding and supporting some local black businesses near you. It doesn’t take much, just a simple Google search. To get you started, here are a few places you could try:

But the best thing of all is to find localized groups that showcase businesses right in your community, like this one for Chicago.

Be active, be thoughtful, and support the black entrepreneurs in YOUR community. This Black Friday, make it a #BuyBlack Friday. And while you’re at it, keep supporting them after this week too 😉
